Please school me on batcaps

The car in question is a 2012 WRX with a 110 amp alternator.

Will batcaps, like say one or two batcap 400s, allow me to run class ab amplifiers with 175 amps of total fusing? Granted, I doubt I will ever pull much more than 70 to 100 amps peak, but I don't want to go all out with buying a HO alternator and a upgraded main battery just yet.

Plan b is to sell all my class ab amplifiers and go back with full-range class d. I already have one of my beasts consigned with a local shop because it has 140 amps of fusing and will draw every one of those 140 amps at full power. I'm sure he would be happy to have a whole stack of matching ones to go with it.

You're from La and have a 2012 WRX? Me too. Lol.

I have the stock batt and an XS3400 in the trunk and run ~ 3k and I'm fine for voltage.

Why BatCaps specifically? I bet you'd be fine with stock batt and one of those tiny XS powers or even a Kinetic HC600 or 800. Those things are tiny.

I'm looking for small, and easy to integrate, hence the reason I was looking into bat caps. This is the first time since 2007 that I have a car with a ton of usable space and I am trying to design the system to keep most of it. In my 2007 Accord, I could bring a 4' table, two cd players, a mixer, a pair of 12" Mackies, and a 8" cheap American Audio for monitoring with all the speaker stands. Of course now it is a laptop bag, file cases, and a document scanner that I need to bring with me.

I also am having a hard time selling off ALL my Lunar amplifiers to go back down to a single or pair of HD900/5s. Eventually, maybe, but letting go is hard, lol.

Why?...i guess I missed something?..I used one for a few years without problems..whats up? they kill somebody?
i was actually in with kinetik pretty good until i found out they recycle their lead. so i switched to odessy. i wont look back

Dante' seesm to do fine with them. Lol.

Somebody on here had a bad experience or didn't do it right and now they have a bad rap. I dunno. I've use their smaller ones with success. I don't think they particularly like being underhood though.

That tiny little XS I have (I always forget the model number) is supposedly good for 1k. His stock charging is good for the other 750w.
I mean, he's not going to be drawing 175A all the time. His stock system is good for half of it. One of these and he should be good. No? More is always better, but...

Two jobs ago, one of the CPA firms that I worked for had an office in Breaux Bridge. Since I was in the Lafayette office, that was the only one I didn't mind going to. Now Franklin, Marksville, Morgan City, and Oberlin... I dreaded those drives, lol.

how much power are your amps?
They are underrated, but for the sake of argument... 60x2; 100x2; and 125x2 which will bridge to 570x1 @ 2 ohms or 490x1 @ 4... I measured the 60x2 to produce 120x2 just prior to clipping, and I am sure the rest of them are similarly underrated class ab current hogs.

I'm thinking 60x2 to the tweeters; 100x2 to the midbass, and bridging the 125x2 to the sub. The only thing that will change will be the 60x2 because I may replace it with a 50x4 to run the midrange and tweeters if I decide to go with a 3 way setup. I have both Genesis 2 ways and Soundstream 3 ways taking up space in the closet right now.

I have a Kinetick 600,and will be installing soon next to the sub amps, rather than a 6 farad cap..Ive used one before, and had no issues with Kinetick, seem to always have been quite reliable also with Alumpro

xs xp950... great batt, little on the small side for your situation though... Id go with that and then a d3100 in back.. but stay away from kinetik.

Mine does its job? Just wondering what else I should be asking from a batt??? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
