port length question

anybody? im getting a 15 se and want to tune it around 30Hz using the external dimensions of 37.5" wide x 16" high and 12.25" deep. im looking at all these calculators but their all giving me different answers and its just confusing me even more.

I'm not overly familiar with the SE's, but RE reccomends 4 cubes ported for SQL, and I probably wouldn't go lower than 3 cubes.

It won't necessarily hurt the driver, but I think you'd yield better results just going sealed. You'll be able to give it the proper volume it needs (~2 cubes), and it should sound great.

Put it this way. Tuning a ported box low is done in an attempt to get teh frequency response of a sealed enclosure. You lose a little output going sealed, but the low end is better.

In your case though, I don't think you'd lose much output at all because you're starving the SE if you throw it in 2 cubes ported.

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...

While that program is pretty neat, it assumes you know the values. I was just recapping the numbers you provided. RS recommends the following...
