what if i underpower

haha^^ it just depends on if you are still not clipping the amp. If you clip the signal you will cause damage to the sub, but if there is an unclipped signal your sub should play with the same SQ, i would think. Blinkodog put a 12" Re Mx on a jl500/1 and sold it because it was too underpowered so i may be wrong./

no.

Only reason to be careful when under powering a sub is to set your gains correctly. If you try to use the gain like a volume knob, you could easily over drive the amp and kill it.

Seeing as how I'm still using my XXX 4 years later and it has never seen anything close to its RMS rating...sounds amazing with only 400RMS on it, too.
I ran one of my xxx's off 500 watts, and sealed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Output was... okay. I thought it sounded really good until I replaced it with a pair of IDQ's for reference. lol
