What is the difference between 12" subs and 15" subs?

that is the end of it...if the motors are the same, then the larger sub will win in output with the same power, if the motors are different then you have to give the bigger motor more power.

power handling doesn't really have a direct relation to output the inductance, resistance, compliance, and a few other factors must also be considered

IE; one sub can be just as loud with 500 watts as another with 1000
since when are the motors the only determining factor of the speakers performance? or are you admitting that you know even less about speakers than previously thought (which is scary, because everyone already thought you were an idiot, i dont know how much lower you can go...)

Cot is too busy running his mouth to listen. If you chose to continue with him, do so for your own amusement. .

Are you dyslexic, or just plain STUPID? He clearly stated that for the same line woofer (In this case the Dayton HF series) it took over 2x the power (to the 15") to have the same output that 8" achieved.
hey dipsht, learn to read... read the words that came before the little section you highlighted

if the motors are the same,

mk jackasses i'm gone now,

go on pretending that you're 8's perform better than 15's and 18's of the same make....

i'll be in the real world, realizing that no company makes a line where the bigger subs have less potential than the smaller subs...

there are 262 posts before this one i have quoted, and somehow, you still dont get it that WE ARENT TALKING ABOUT ANY SPECIFIC COMPANIES, LINES OF PRODUCT, OR SPECIFIC WOOFERS...

what we are talking about is concrete facts, and woofer design, which i am most confident in saying you dont have a clue about that either.

sure, you can generalize that most of the time within a certain companies line of woofers the 15" is going to be louder and play lower than a 12", a 10", or an 8" of the same companies same line of product. and at the same time you can generalize that the smaller woofers are going to work in smaller boxes, work off of less power, and have a lower Qts. i mean hell, if they designed them all to have the exact same specs, lets face it, everyone would just make one size of woofer and be done with it. but they dont, because that would not be an ideal business model.

no one is arguing this with you cotjones. but you arent smart enough to understand this.

what we are saying (and again, you arent smart enough to understand it) is that you cannot say that a larger cone size is going to play lower, louder. this, again, is a generalization, and not a fact.

go back to the OP, read it again and tell me where he has specified which woofers he is comparing. go ahead, ill give you a few minutes

whats that? he doesnt specify? well, how can we give him a fact based answer if we dont have any facts to compare????? wait, we do have one fact, a 15" has more surface area than a 12"... /discussion, there is no other correct answer.

The really sad part is, you actually believe that's the discussion here. Lets rewind 6 pages...
This same old arguement. Someone (falsely) makes the claim that cone size is determinate on output ability or low-end response. People argue a while. Then OP brings on specs from lines of subs that shows a lower Fs as sub sizes increase, proof he thinks. Unfortunately he's lost track of the fact that just because for a given line of woofers, the Fs goes lower upon increasing model size, this does not mean cone size is determinate on low-end reponse.
Looks like the only thing I got wrong was, it wasn't the OP with the faulty 'same model' arguement, it was you. You want to debate with the big kids, but you fail to even understand what is discussed.
This forum needs a dunce cap, and a corner with a stool in it.
