I have a 1000 watt rms single channel amp that is not being used and doing the math with a 2ohm sub, it appears i need 22 amps of power for this amp to run. So assuming for the moment that the power will never go over 1000 watts could something like, Amazon.com: Pyramid PS26KX 22 Amp Power...

Aside from overheating a sub or bottoming it out, how else can you damage it? is it possible to rip the surround without hitting the back plate?

This pretty much confirms what I thought. Was hoping I could get away with 4" but it's not working lolz. I will get some 6.5 component speakers. Thanks for the help

Yes, they were set around 80hz before but there was no midbass at all :s I spent about an hour trying all different crossover settings and different attenuation levels and I just can't get the highs to blend in with the sub. If anyone has any suggestion, I shall try it.

So I have two 4" coaxial speakers on my dash and two 6x9" coaxials on my rear dash along with a 12" sealed Fi. The 4 speakers are all getting 45 watts RMS each from an amp and the sub has 1000 RMS. I have turned all crossovers leading to the coaxials off so they are getting a full signal...

it would be a cheaper way to monitor my battery in place of buying a cigarette lighter volt meter which i would not really enjoy looking at could disguise it to look like something cool i just need to know if there would be any bad things that could happen from doing this lol also, only bad...

just used some convenient power conversion tools and apparently 140 amps is enough for 1700 watts :O

is a 140 amp alternator enough to power 1400 watts RMS with an optima yellow top? i don't care about dimming since even very HO alternators have dimming, as long as it is enough to keep my system alive for daily driving

if the alternators fit and are the same voltage, what would be the problem

Can't find an answer on this so I'm assuming you can put any HO alternator in your car as long as it fits and installs properly. Maybe even a little modding.
