Budget SQ System (PG RSD)

Been reading a lot about the PG RSD line, and seems to be good SQ for a budget...how does this look?

RSD 6.5" Components in front - $87

RSD 6.5" Coaxials in back - $59

RSD 12" Sub in 1.21 cu. ft. box - $109 for sub, $50 for box (w/ shipping)

Alpine MRP-F300 4 Channel Amp - $145

Alpine MRP-M500 Mono Amp - $149

Alpine CDA-9884 HU - $200

Total: ~$800

*Had previously looked at a Type-R or Type-S setup, but after reading reviews of the RSD line, I'm very interested, but a bit concerned about the lack of "name brand recognition" (if that makes sense)

*Does the amp have enough power to drive the sub well?

*Will that box work? According to Crutchfield, the sub's sealed box volume range is 0.78-1.20 cu. ft., and according to the manual, 1.2 is the optimal cu. ft. for a 12" SQ Sealed box

*My primary music style is Rock/Metal.

I'd forget rill fill, get an amp that can give the comps around 2x100-150w rms, and a mono amp that can give the sub around 600-900w rms.

If your set on going sealed why not just build it your self??
Well, for me personally it's not worth the effort...I love quality music, but I'd rather spend my time doing something other than learning how to build my own enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if ur looking for sq skip the rear fill
Even though the coaxials in the back are ~$50, you'd skip them? I had thought the improved soundstage would be worth that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

the hate for rear fill will never die!!!

personally i wish i had better rear fill. my rears are running off the HU and all my fronts are running thru a amp.

It's all subjective, but to start with, I'd say skip them from the get-go and focus on getting the front stage dialed in properly. Acclimate yourself to front stage + sub only for a few months or more.... if you still feel the need for rears after this time, then throw in the coaxs.

the rsd 12 will want more space than that, you could consider the rsdc 12 and would work very well. also I would consider the rsd amps too, can be had for cheap on fleabay
