I just purchased a 97 GMC 1500 and it has no front speakers and only one in the rear works but this speaker only works on hot days lol I have no clue how to fix this and the shop wants 50 just to figure out what's wrong. I'm thinking just start from scratch and install all new speaker wire, aftermarket head and wire power myself. I've priced it and this will run 80 bucks or so and that seems better than 50 to tell me I have a problem lol. So far it looks like I need a fuse tap to run power right into the existing radio fuse in my fuse panel and then run wires to the speaker locations from the dash I have heard of using the lighter for my remote wire but it's always hot in this truck with or without the truck on so where can I run the remote also an I missing anything so far? Or is this already explained on here somewhere?

Your on the right track for a new setup on older truck.

As far as the remote you can buy something like this.

https://www.amazon.com/Power-Relay-Single-Double-Throw/dp/B001PNMBE4

It can be bought at any Auto parts store.

To wire it do this:

85 - ground

86 - amp turn on wire from headunit or cig lighter power

30 - wire to battery

87a - n/a not used

87 - connect to any thing that needs a remote wire.

This way your not pulling any extra power on that cig lighter and popping fuses.

This relay will only pull the minimal 1 amp from the cig lighter to start the connection.

Pin 87 will provide up to 40-50 amp so it can be used for multiple stuff.

Or snag a Kenwood x301 for $87 off amazon. Ive got one in my 99 ranger on cra ppy pioneer 6x8"s from walmart and the HU makes them sound fantastic. Plus its got time alignment ( incredibly easy to set and fantastic sound)

So with that relay doesn't it matter that my cig power is continuous hot even when the truck is parked? I figured I needed a location for something that only turns on when the car was on.

If it's continuous then yes you will have to find a different spot to tap into.
But you can test each fuse to find a switched wire and tap into that wire.

Then I could probably just use the original fuse for the radio in the fuse panel with a fuse tap right
Pretty much but thats "incorrect" for an installer to do it lol.
The relay way actually pulls it's own power source to power the devices

the 80 dollar jvc i listed actually does everything the x301 does but way more. It can also do active network mode for active setups as well. Still has all the space enhance, stage lift sh*t as well. Literally the same audio options but with network mode... fking ridiculous at 80 bucks (including all install accessories/dash kits and wiring harnesses)

Yeah I was just saying run the wire from the 86 pin on the relay to the radio fuse in the car with a fuse tap to keep things clean instead of splitting into another wire in the open somewhere.

Gotcha, misread your post. Yeah that will work perfect.
