I just hooked up a new Rockford Fosgate Punch Power 800.2 amp in my Dodge Dakota Extended Cab R/T. I got 4 gauge running to a 1 Farad capacitor too. The head unit is the Panasonic CQ-DFX701U. Anyways....I have 2 12inch Infinity Perfect subs (4ohm) in a sealed box with about 1.25 cubic feet for each sub. I had the amp running one channel (it's a 2 channel amp) to each speaker. But I looked on RF's website and it showed how to bridge it to one channel for 2 speakers. So I just bridged the amp so I think that the amp is running at 2 ohms now.

Is that too much power for these Infinity speakers????

AND should I get a smaller box for the subs or a bigger one for Infinity Perfect subs??? I would like a smaller box, because it takes up the whole back seat, but would I lose quality?

Do good RCA cables really matter at all???

Any help would be great! Thanks!!

It all depends on if your infinitys have dvc{dual voice coils}. If they do, each sub can push 2 ohms. If you have dvc's, I suggest that you run the amp as two seperate channels. At 2 ohms a channel, the amp pushes 400x2 RMS. If you have the single voice coil subs, I would still run two channels. You would only be pushing half the power but at least you wouldn't tear your amp up. That amp can only run at 4 ohms in the bridged mode. If you wire the svc's in parallel, they would run at 2 ohms instead of 4 and the subs wikk try to pull more power than the amp can push. Kaboom! You can run the dvc's in the bridged mode. You wire one sub in parallel across the coils, and the other one in series, so one sub will be running 2 ohms, and the other 8 ohms. So when you the subs together in parallel, they will be running at 4 ohs just like the amp would and there would be no struggle for power. If you don't know bout this stuff, go to a car audio store that dealsonly car audio and show this to them. They will know exactly what I'm describing. I know. I've been installing for 3 years now. Systems can get tricky.
