So I have dual p3d2 12s and the Prime r1200-1d, someone asked if I was interested in trading for a Punch p1000x1bd. I know the Punch is more expensive, and I know it's in the same series as the P3s, but its1000w and the Prime is 1200w, which is the same when both p3s maxed out.
***so should I trade or hold on to what I already have?...
***also what's the difference in between the r1200-1d and the r21200x1, besides it being newer?

Condition matters. If yours is newer and undamaged you’d have to wonder why someone wants to trade a $500 amp for a $300 one. The r1200 is a class d amp which has proven results powering subs. Manufacturers can blend tech to suit perceived demand. That p1000 is a class bd amp which truly does work well and could be considered hybrid. It’s thought that having a mix of b class and d class tech improves the performance of amplification. It does and seems worth the few more bucks but like anything it’s preference. Ppl run all kinds of subs on that r1200, same can be said of the p1000bd. It’s a blend of 2 proven techs.

The R2 has C.L.E.A.N. setup for setting the gain.

That 1200 you have is the same as I have and has been dyno'd to put out over 1400w @ 1ohm.
Those subs should be doing awesome on that amp.

As you move up in amplifiers... to the punch and power, the dynamic power also goes up. However that Punch 1000 is gonna be close to the 1200 you already have, which is the 1400w range. I say beat the 1200 up as much as you can... I haven't killed mine yet.

Much appreciated....
I also recently purchased a
Pioneer Gm-dx971, 1200rms (2400max), and in my opinion it sounds better than the Fosgate r12001d...But how well built is it, I can't find a dyno on it. But so which of these 2?

Id run whichever sounds and performs best to you and for your needs. No one can tell you of which is better than the other without being present to demo both within the environment installed. Run the Pioneer and sell the Prime, or keep it for another day/backup/or vehicle?

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
