I have read where it is advised to install a diode across the coil of the relay (term #85&86). Does the type of diode matter? Size, etc? I'm not an electronics guru so i'm not sure if all diodes are created equal.

I like the Stinger wire. Easy to locate fittings that actually work with the wire. Knu is ok, but hard to crimp fittings on the end. For a few bucks more, i like Stinger. I always used Fosgate wire before, but haven't found a place that sold it by the foot, just in a complete amp kit.

I would mount the MDF or particle board, either is fine, to the carpet. Then mount the amp on the board. You don't want the mounting screws of the amp to contact the metal chassis of the car.

Don't mount the amp directly to metal. Mount it on a piece of MDF.
