I like the 18s idea.. I thought your woofers were the copper coils?

I originally had alum, but reconed to copper

do ya think I should still stick with copper if I do the 18's?

You should have kept aluminum to begin with. They handle the power better.. If you recone to 18s, definately get aluminum coils, although the 18s should handle the power a little better anyways..

why would 18s handle power better than 15s?

from everything i've read, copper coils are just fine on 2k. i'll know in a week or two.

Got the 2200.1 in today, and the hdc copper loved it. Very loud... I Played it full tilt for about 15-20 minutes.. I would still get the alum coils though for your 18 recones.

Nice man...glad to hear it likes the power. Kinda ***** the alum coil will be another $100...so prolly make the total recones about $375 or so.....hmmm what to do.

How did yur 18 take the power? 15-20 is a good time. And then it started heating up? and how much power were you giving it(dmm check)?

I set my amp for 4k between 2 subs, and with rise it should be less, but I can still get em warm fairly quickly

Yea after I played them, I went back, and felt the cone, and it was warm. Wasn't burning hot though. As for how I set my gains, I pretty much set it half way, then I used my bass knob, and since it has a clipping led, I was able to use that to set things.. Did you're woofers smell after that usage or something? Yes the aluminum coils are 100ish, but I will defiantely be getting a recone maybe in a week. The hw handles alot more power than the hdc3

I used to have the hdc3 and now the hw, the aq heats up too easily, still a great sub but I would get the hw anyday its just a beefier moofa.
