4 Gauge power wire capacity

Yes, but if u plan on ever upgrading just do 1/0 and get it overwith. Most will say the same...

If you do plan to stay at 1k 4ga is fine
I do agree. I went with 4 gauge and I after about 2 months I wanted to upgrade. Lost about $40 in all after selling my 4 gauge, since it was used.

I say what you run to your amp run from your alt. Keep them the same size and you will be fine. More than 1000 watts on a 4g wire you may reach a current limit and will heat up the wire. Should not be a fire issue but may lose some power flow from A to B.

So you guys run 1/0 gauge all the way from the power source to your amp? You dont run 1/0 to a fuse/distro block and then run 4 awg from there to the amp?
