I currently have 2 Kicker Comp 12" with some crappy 400 watt dual from wal mart. Im looking into upgrading to 1x Fi SSD 15" With a SoundQubed Q1-1200D Amp. I've been trying to read as much as I can about these subs, and others as well, and I seem to really like the Fi Subs, but im not quite sure if thats what I want to go with. They are about $300 fully loaded, coolers, flatwind coil and everything.

If you have any suggestions/comments I'd greatly appreciate it, I don't have a massive budget, im new to most a lot of this stuff.

Also - If i were to go with the SSD15, would I want to spend the extra money on the flatwind coils and coolers? And on the "QTS" Standard or sealed? And i'm not sure what the 'internal lead' means. Also with this specific amp should it be 1 or 2ohm?

I appreciate the feedback.

The SSD is a good sub, I use to own the 15" version. I also own that same exact amp right now. You'll want a dual 2 ohm SSD, that way you can wire it to 1 ohm. I wouldn't worry about adding the flatwind option or cooling options either, the sub should handle that power ok without them as long as you have the gains set right. If your going ported, get the standard QTS option, if sealed get the high QTS option.

That's what I needed to know! Thank you. As long as the amp and sub are as good as I hear im happy. I was going to get a Kicker L7 But, hopefully this one will blow it away.

Well in terms of loudness, the L7 should get a bit louder with everything else equal but the SSD should sound much better. But the SSD should also get plenty loud for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

True! The L7 looks so sick, but everyone says the Kickers are way over priced, and you can find something much better for cheaper.

Should be a good setup...

As long as it is in the right box
The box I have right now for my kicker comps sound good, to me. But it's just something I threw together. I know nothing about Cubes and Hz or anything like that. Ill probably start doing a lot of reading or see if I can't find someone to help me design a box to fit my trunk that will work well with this sub.

Just check the vendor section... There are plently of guys that can design and build

Use this website for your box design, then just pay someone to build it. I would do 3.5-4.5cf tuned to 30-35Hz

RE AUDIO - Box Calculator

Worse comes to worse, and the above is to difficult for you, let me know your max EXTERNAL dimensions and I'll whip up a design for you for free.

Getting a good box for your FI will make it really use it's full potential. is space an issue?
Space could be an issue. I have a 1991 Acura Integra Hatchback. I think my Trunk is 30" wide but im not sure the full dimentions, i'l get the full dimentions and take a picture for this thread. Because with it being a 15 I suppose i'll need a rather large box.

@mylows10 ; if you want to go loud the xfl will get lil louder vs the ssd imho and save you some monies like 100 bucks. use that 100 bucks and have @double 07 ; hook you up with an amazing box because without a custom box your just wasting money. the box makes the sound. pre fabs are always too small and choke off the sub.
