It started out as a sealed box for my friends 02 mustang and his DP but he got a ported box and I took the sealed box for myself. It fit perfectly into the cargo well in my hatch and so I used it for about a year sealed and was never satisfied with the low end extension so I decided to try...
Short sweet and simple.....
What do you guys think of a 12" Death Penalty in a 1.5cu. ft. box ported with a single external 4" pvc port tuned to 34hz. Port noise will be an issue but I dont care.
Anyway give thoughts and opinions or feel free to ask questions.
Ok so here is the deal. For quite sometime now ive been running my 12" DP in a 1.5 cu. ft. sealed box. It does fine and sounds really good with my BX2005D on it but im looking for some more low end extension. So I did some measuring and number crunching and I have room on either side of the...
Well folks I finally sold my old Hifonics BX1000D for 100 dollars in perfect working order. Its served me well for the past 3 years but it was time to part with it. Now im in the market a new amp. My limit is 2-300 dollars, im looking for 1500-2000 watts rms @ 1 ohm. Give me some options...
Eh..the fact that at a 1ohm resistive load my amp pumps out a stable 31 volts rms @60 hz at 13.5 volts input. Im not saying that wont drop due to impedence rise from the subwoofer but while hooked up to my DP @1 ohm it can push 32 volts rms @ 60hz just before audible clipping so im more than...
^ I second the Hifonics decision. If you want to spend the money get something more but for the money you cant beat it I dont think. I love my older BX1000D and know for a fact it does a good 900 watts at 1 ohm so even though they may be overated, they still do close to their power at 1 ohm...
I honestly believe in Hifonics. I can vouche for NeillBarber on this one. Ive ran my BX1000D..its one of the old models at 1 ohm for over 2 years now and its still going strong and has NEVER went into protect mode from overheating...ever. In fact running full tilt it doesnt even get warm at 1...
Hmm...sounds to me like the internal amplifier in your h/u..if you had speakers hooked to your h/u...decided to crap out. That would explain the no sound, still has power and smoke with burnt electronic smell.
Umm I actually believe its kinda like a status symbol. Shows your overall possible knowledge based on post count. Ive been a member a really really long time and still only have 4 but then again I only have 1800 posts...oh wait this is my 1800th post..WOOT!!!!
Eh...this is somewhat true. The gain is simply used to match the output of the amplifier with the input it receives from the h/u. Say you have a h/u that gives out a full 2 volts at full volume (this is just an example is not true to real world). If your amp has a gain adjustment of .2v-8v...
Good choice with the Hifonics BXi2006...want one myself just to have one but im happy with my BX1000D for now. Anyway I believe that like said above, be smart with the gains and volume and you should be bumpin happy.
Ya that sounds about right Mountaineer Man. Like I said its going to be on the borderline of being enough. Since the alternator will most likely not be giving a full 14 volts all the time the amp may not pull as much or put out as much power but then again it could also be true that Hifonics...
Well he didnt have his bench tested but we know for a fact it was good for at least 1300 watts because he had a crossfire VR1000D and it wouldnt even dim his lights and the Hifonics pushed his 12"DP with some authority. Omg it was insanely loud.
Anyway if I figure it correctly...at 65%...
Im going to tell you right now its going to be nowhere near enough for that 2000 watter. Friend of mine had the 1606 in his mustang with a 100 amp alty and it would actually kill his lights driving down the highway at full tilt. Assuming that amp was 100% efficient (which is not possible and...
I have a BX1000D ive had for about 2 years now and been running it at 1 ohm pushing my Death Penalty and hasnt given out on me yet. Im happy with it. I want to sell it actually to buy a newer line and get a more powerful Hifonics amp on top of that.
